Colleen Sehy is a writer and speaker with special expertise in English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, and Shakespearean history and culture in America. Her writing draws inspiration from numerous visits to Great Britain and Ireland, and more than thirty years of traveling across the US and Canada exploring places with links to the British Isles.
Colleen’s first book, Finding Shakespeare in America, was published in February 2020. It brings together hundreds of Shakespeare-related attractions across the US in a single guide that makes it easy to explore America's long-standing love affair with the Bard. She spent more than three years visiting theaters, festivals, gardens, museums, libraries, and historic sites across the country while conducting research for the book.
Finding Shakespeare in America is the first in a planned series of guidebooks highlighting the best of the British Isles in the US. Colleen is currently working on Finding Scotland in America and Finding Ireland in America, which will be followed by Finding England and Wales in America. She also writes a monthly column called Eating British in America for Anglotopia that highlights British and Irish food traditions and great places to find authentic English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish food in the US.
Colleen’s background is in arts management and higher education. She earned her undergraduate degree in Columbia College Chicago's trailblazing Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management program, one of the first undergraduate arts management programs in the country. She also holds an MBA and an MS in Management and Organizational Behavior. After completing her BA, she spent five years in arts administration, followed by 25 years in higher education.
