I began writing free verse poetry as a teen in 1981, some of which got read at Episcopal youth retreats in several states. In Summer 1982, my first public reading of a short story at a camp talent show got a sustained standing ovation from an audience of 500, which set me on my path. I served as Editor-In-Chief of the Tampa Tribune Explorer Post through three issues of the locally acclaimed Exploring Express newsletter. In 1990, I compiled my 200 poems into a self-published volume called Life Itself, and printed twenty copies that were given to friends. Making Other Plans: a memoir, published September 3, details how I overcame ADD, Depressio and spouse abuse. It is my first published work.
