More recently in California, another kind of writer met his other self, Christian poetry gained one of its unique poets and life-changing community supporter. As a kid, D. L. After his mother and father divorced at the age of one. Home for young D. L. was a series of juvenile detention centers. Winters continued his education and at the age of 16, he was faced with writing his first essay to pass his class. For the next 14 years in and out, the only writing that was being done in his life was a compiled list of criminal behavior from receiving stolen property, grand theft auto, and possession of a firearm without a permit. the only mark that D. Inspired by creative writing classes, conversations with older lifer prisoners who shed some light of wisdom to help direct his steps, and the prison Chaplain who gave him access to countless amounts of literature, prayer, and inspiration on building a relationship with Jesus Christ, this is when Winters finally met his other-self. That other self had something to say through his writing. Winters applied for an office job as a disciplinary clerk where he was able to work and write poetry in his spare time. Winters continued with his bible study, straighten his self out and was released from prison and discharged his parole in one year. D. L. went back to Bakersfield, Ca and started working in the construction field building storage units for Darrel mini storage.
While perfecting his craft in writing his first book. Within two years he self-published his first book. Within four years he had published his second book.
