Although he was born with bilateral profound (severe) hearing loss, wears a hearing aid, and speaks fluently since he was very young, Dale Jellison never considered himself deaf and does not want to be treated any differently.
Dale grew up in a small town nestled in the seacoast region of New Hampshire and was involved in local theater and drama clubs during his middle and high school years. He was also involved with the local fire department’s Fire Explorer program and responded to emergency calls.
He graduated from public high school with honors and is believed to be the first deaf student to be inducted into the school’s National Honor Society during his sophomore year. He has beaten the odds and surprised the people who doubted him.
Today, Dale is an accountant by trade and a writer in his spare time. He enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, and hopes to expand his travels to other countries.
