David A. Wimsett's novels and short stories follow characters as they grow and have the opportunity to examine themselves and their place in the world. His works include women's fiction, epic fantasy, science fiction, contemporary issues and humor. They contain characters if different genders, gender identities, colors and ethnicities who face realistic challenges in their lives.
His science fiction short story “Time and Tide”; was short listed for the annual Absent Willow Review anthology. His urban short story “Shoot” won the Magelsforf Award for Writing Excellence. His urban fantasy entry was a runner-up the U,K Askance Short Story Competition. His poem "Undeniable" was winner in the Nova Scotia Writers' Federation Postcard Poetry Competition. Beyond the Shallow Bank, his women's historical fiction novel with elements of Celtic mythology, won first-place for Magic, Legends & Lore and third place for Women's Historical Fiction at The BookFest Awards.
He is a member of the Writers' Union of Canada as well as the Canadian Freelance Guild representing freelance journalists and the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia where he sits on the Writer's Council
In addition to being an author, Mr. Wimsett is also an actor, musician, composer, videographer and professional photographer.
His home is in a rural Nova Scotia town near the sea.
