For decades, following my Marine Corps service, critics told me I couldn't combine Top-Down leading with a more interactive, collaborative style. So I wrote a book about it. More than that, I am aiming my book at teachers so they can model the mix in front of students, helping prepare them for a collaborative future in the workplace. I have taught hundreds of teachers the model through Seattle Pacific University and am now on the adjunct faculty at Green River College. It thrills me to see the results of my teaching as they are contained in 'real-time' collaborations with students. It's not uncommon to see remarks like this attached to verbatim reports submitted to my trainees: "I see students more excited about their studies, more invested in their work, and more cooperative with me and with each other."
