Dothula Baron grew up with a mother who was her guide, her guardian, and her light. Since her mother understood esoteric philosophies, she taught her about the connection between mind, body, spirit, and instilled in her that there as a world beyond the one we see and feel. As a self-identified psychic, her mother also spoke about healing and her own experience as a Rosicrucian, a society devoted to the study of metaphysical, mystical, and alchemical lore. Even after her mother’s passing, when Dothula was only twenty-five years old, she felt her mother guiding, directing, and teaching her.
Through the years, Dothula read endlessly, and after her mother’s transition, she had experiences that confirmed her mother’s presence and teachings. Thus, she proceeded to take classes and read books that supported what Dothula was experiencing. Subsequently, Dothula attracted a group of like-minded individuals, leading her to take classes at the Life Enrichment Center in Winston-Salem and to attend Spiritual Frontiers Conferences at Guilford College in Greensboro. She also worked at metaphysical bookstores, teaching classes that focused on love, light, energy, intuition, healing and giving intuitive consultations.
Dothula has a B.A. in English from North Carolina Central University in Durham, an M.S. in Library and Information Services from the University of Maryland in College Park, and an M.A. in Conflict Resolution from Columbia College in South Carolina. Subsequently, she began facilitating discussions with nonprofits on Capacity Building, Fund Development, Strategic Planning, Mission Statements, Core Values, Bylaws, and Organizational Development. She also spent many years organizing communities around social, racial, and environmental issues, counseling and coordinating women’s support groups, establishing and developing community mediation/problem solving programs, providing conflict resolution and violence prevention training for schools, community groups and prisons, and presenting workshops in communication, self-esteem, decision-making, life coping, job seeking skills for youth and families
In 2008, she founded My FACE, Inc. with the idea that women can be empowered to be all they can be and all that they were intended to be. Her published writings include Metamorphosis (1985), Walking in Light (1987), Valuing Culture in Conflict Management Design (2000), and Walking in Light, Living in Love (2022), among other articles, book reviews, lyrics, and poetry.
