Evelyn joined the Peace Corps in 1964 and was sent to Abancay, Peru where she organized 4-H clubs for indigenous girls and taught PE in poor communities. Evelyn joined the Peace Corps in 1964 and was sent to Abancay, Peru where she organized 4-H clubs for indigenous girls and taught PE in poor communities. She met a university-student who she married in Cusco in 1966. They have two grown sons. Since returning from Peru, Evelyn and her husband have lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area. She earned a doctorate in Multicultural Education in 1983. She retired in 2002 from 32 years in education as a school social worker, a psychologist, and an administrator. Evelyn accomplished the transition from academic to narrative writing by participating in critique groups and taking many writing classes.
Her writing has appeared in World View Magazine,Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin,the California Writers Club Literary Review, the Tri-City Voicenewspaper, Dispatches,and clevermag.com. She is a lifetime member of the National Association of Memoir Writers and a long-time member of the California Writers Club.
