George Baum is a retired Emmy winning Chicago television newswriter/ producer, documentary writer/producer and news specials writer/producer.  He also served as News Director for the now defunct Catholic Television Network of Chicago.  He has written freelance travel articles for the Chicago Tribune and Cleveland Plain Dealer among others.  He has also written about his experiences for the Chicago Tribune Sunday Magazine and The Standard Times of New Bedford, MA.  Both articles, updated and with pictures not available at the time of publication, are included in The Human Spirit Under Siege.  The author hopes that the book might be used as supplemental reading in Holocaust studies and courses on every educational level.
