Ms. Helen J. Slaughter was born in Earle, Arkansas. She is the second oldest of ten siblings. Helen grew up in a two-parent household that encouraged and influenced strong Christion and insight into family values while encouraging the children to dream big! Dreams, by saying, “You Can Be Whatever You Want to Be! and Don’t Let Anyone Tell You Can’t. “Juut Believe in Yourself and Your Dreams Pray, and God Will Do the Rest.” Ms. Helen feels that many young children in the world don’t know the Bible or understand God’s Word and promises and how they can apply God’s Word into their daily lives. Ms. Slaughter’s writing credit started as an undergraduate student while enrolled in a Christian and Early Childhood Education (ECE) creative writing course at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois. The Big Race and God’s Gifts, is Ms. Helen’s first self-published children’s Christian picture book. Her second book is, Here Comes Sleepy Cottontails, “Yes Jesus Loves Me. Helen's prayers are to write and create children’s books to be used as teaching tools, and to help bring about Bullying Awareness. Today, Ms. Slaughter lives in Chicago, Illinois, where she has as a Family Child Care Provider. Helen is a member of the Living Word Christian Center, pastored by Dr. Bill Winston. She is also a graduate of the graduate of the Joseph Business School of Entrepreneurship in Forest Park, Illinois. Helen J. Slaughter is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the National Coalition for Homeless (NCH). She is looking forward to obtaining a degree in Human Services. Ms. Helen Slaughter is in the process of establishing Mothers’ Beneath My Wings, a nonprofit organization that aims to serve youth and young children experiencing homelessness. Ms. Helen is a proud single mother of four children. Carolyn, Steven, Carla, and Carmen. She has twenty-one grandchildren and fourteen great- grandchildren.
