Author, artist, and photographer, J. B. Fitzgerald launched her career as a journalist and freelance cartoonist, ultimately relinquishing a world of facts, sound bites, and endless black ink to leap into the enticing realms of fiction and color. In addition to her offbeat Sylver Platter superhero series, she currently pens adult and young-adult novels, as well as children’s books, occasionally diverting her passion for storytelling from the page to the canvas. A lifelong advocate for animal welfare organizations and a dedicated dog mom, many of Ms. Fitzgerald’s written works and original paintings celebrate the incomparable bonds between humans and their canine companions. She has also written two memoirs—The Sun Orbits My Dog and Moonlight of the Talking Dog—chronicling the continuing adventures and misadventures shared with her rescued animals. Ms. Fitzgerald and her family savor a quiet life in the Pacific Northwest under the wise, bushy-tailed, and rather vocal rule of Maisie Moon: German shepherd-beagle mix, cheese addict, and the genius-dog inspiration for one unlikely superhero’s canine sidekick.
