Jameson Owens has a history of improving the systems around him. His approach to making a better world has been diverse: founding a chapter of Operation Smile at CU Boulder where he received a BA in Psychology and Neuroscience, working at the Center for Health and Disease, being elected to philanthropy chair of his fraternity, tutoring math to struggling students at Arapahoe High School, and spending 8 years volunteering with special needs children at Easter Seals. His passion for health led him to the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2016 where he began studying to be a doctor. During his time in medical school, he headed the Ophthalmology Interest Group, created programs for Crawford Elementary Future Scientists, and his peers awarded him the Professionalism Award in 2017 due to his unflinching commitment to improve the school and increase outreach to underserved communities.
After becoming disillusioned with the healthcare system, Jameson wrote the first book in his science-fiction series titled Star Story Book One: Anchored, to convey how healthcare disparity seeps into our society and striates our class system. He left medical school after his second year, attaining a Master of Medical Sciences degree instead, and began working to promote healthcare that emphasizes psychology and meeting basic needs to improve the health of individuals and communities.
Jameson is currently Director of Community Outreach at Aeroaquaponic, a non-profit that combines nature and technology to create cutting edge self-sustainable communities. He also runs his own company Lost Child LLC which touches on various aspects of nerdiness from costume design to publishing services. When he is not working, Jameson can be found volunteering as a counselor at Easter Seals Rocky Mountain Village or playing with the hundreds of action figures he has collected.
