Jane Powell lives with her family in Golden, B.C., where she works as a writer, editor, and writing consultant. She grew up in a closely-knit neighbourhood on a little island north of Montreal. Born a dreamer, her passion for creative writing started as soon as she could read. Jane has always been fascinated with books that tell stories about life, society, and people. She models her own writing off authors such as Bryce Courtenay, Miriam Toews, Paulo Coelho, and Audrey Niffenegger.

Jane sees life as a riveting research project. Possibilities for learning are everywhere, in every interaction and experience (whether good or not so good), and the opportunity to encourage the enrichment of imagination in others is a creative process that Jane thrives in. Jane’s own “life toolbox” includes living and working in several countries, diplomas in Languages & Literature, Anthropology, World Religions, Natural Sciences, and Education, as well as teen parenthood and overcoming trauma associated with bullying and sexual assault.
