A native Iowan, Jeff Grinnell grew up in the 50s and 60s before earning an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers Workshop in 1975. He lived in Chicago, then the Boston area (where he studied prosody in Robert Fitzgerald’s final course). In 1983 he settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, eventually receiving an MLIS from University of California at Berkeley. His poems have appeared in The Paris Review, The New York Quarterly, The South Carolina Review, Wisconsin Review and The Texas Review, among other publications. "Flickering Kingdoms" is his first book.
