Doley the Guatemalan Street Dog: The Sounds of San Marcos is the first of a series of bilingual picture books for children, based on the five senses. The story is directly inspired by author Jill Brazier's real life experience living in a bamboo treehouse in Guatemala, and her special friendship with Doley, a starving little street dog. Written in English and Spanish, featuring the remarkable artwork of Marcio Diaz, Doley is a marvelous way for children to enjoy and appreciate both languages.
The accomanying Read with Doley! Reading Guide, developed according to the National Common Core Standards of Education (K-2 Literature) is available to download for free at www.doleybook.com. The bilingual companion guide makes it easy for parents, teachers and tutors to engage their children and students in language learning and thinking beyond the text. Doley believes in education!
The next book in the series, The Caravan of Colors, will be released in 2016, along with an accompanying Read with Doley! Reading Guide. In her next adventure, Doley explores the world around her through the sense of sight. The bold artwork of Nicaraguan artist Marcio Diaz brings the story to life.
When Jill Brazier isn’t writing, she works at a charming Italian restaurant in Seattle. She is a traveler, artist, fitness enthusiast, yogi, and animal lover.
