Joe Oswald lives in the historic Beverly neighborhood of Chicago and has been teaching since 1998. He currently teaches United States and Chicago history at a high school in Chicago. Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education from DePaul University, a Master of Arts degree in history from DePaul University, and a second master's degree in educational administration from Governors State University. He also served as the chairman of the history department for ten years, served on his school’s Instructional Leadership Team, the AdvancED school accreditation team, the Literacy Team, coordinated the implementation of standardized test and reading preparation initiatives for the social studies department, supervised several student teachers, and coordinated the school marketing program. He has written a history of Chicago's historic Beverly/Morgan Park community published by Arcadia Publishing as part of their Images of America series, wrote a guide for teaching United States History complete with lesson plans and reproducible activities, and just finished a vocabulary improvement book for adults and students. In addition to teaching, Joe Oswald served on the Beverly Ridge Homeowners Association for several years and tries to play an active role in his community.
