I am a newbie to the writing game, especially blogging. I guess I should correct that; since I have written a variety of things from the moment I first learned how to make my letters - a million years ago. I wrote in a diary, I wrote letters to friends, letters to my parents from camp, letters to my grandparents begging to get to visit, and love letters to those who were once in my life then moved on, and of course my husband who has stayed for over 30 years. So newbie is more in relation to the "Writing Game" as I see it. Social media, seeking an agent, seeking a publisher, and seeking time to hone and polish both my skills and my latest edition - exhausting!
Two books on Smashwords.com: "Dawn of Destiny" Book I and "Duel with Destiny" Book II of the "Destiny by Design" Series. I check the downloads almost daily on the site. Both are free, but neither has generated interest from an agent or publisher (except self-publishers who assure me that I will get my initial investment back ten-fold).
Each day a learn a little about the process that I did not know the day before, I consider that a plus. I like to learn (truth be told I like to be right most of the time so knowing as much as possible helps that endeavor - or at least makes it easier to come up with a plausible answer regardless of whether or not it is accurate).
The nitty gritty is that I am the wife of a very patient man and the mother of three grown sons (only one has given me a grandchild at this point and she is one of the loves of my life). I teach 7th grade which demonstrates my ability to live life on the wild side. I want to learn, to grow, to improve, to write, and I aspire to be better than I was yesterday.
