I was exhausted and hungry. It was only a matter of time before I ran to the refrigerator and placed my dinner in the microwave oven. Now how many of us can agree that waiting for our dinner to cook in a microwave oven can feel like a lifetime!
Now allow me to reminisce even further. I grew up in the Bronx, New York and moved to Queens, New York when I was sixteen years old. I attended Rice High School which was located in Manhattan. I completed degrees in technology and engineering from Queensborough Community College and New York Institute of Technology. Yet, my scholastic and technical achievements could never supersede some of my most fondly held childhood memories.
Family gatherings during the holidays were special occasions.I still remember the aroma of dinner emanating from the kitchen. It heightened my anticipation to eat as well as converse with other family members who assembled at the kitchen table. Developing patience with the scent of food circulating throughout the house was a challenge, but when the meal arrived the wait was well worth it.
Now I am home impatiently waiting for my food to cook in the microwave. After staring at the microwave, I had had enough! I stopped the timer, took the food out of the microwave, sat down at the counter and dug in! It looked ready to be served. Everything was good up until I cut into the middle of the meat on my plate. It was at that point I realized that my food was Cooked on the Outside, but Raw on the Inside. I don’t know why but at this point I asked myself, “If I cannot wait for my food to cook in the microwave oven, how am I going to wait on a Holy, Living God who operates within His own timing?
As of today, I am still pursuing wisdom to further understand God's timing. Maybe one way to acquire additional knowledge is to learn lessons from God’s past relationships with humanity, in an effort to understand His principles for today. Who knows, it may just be the spiritual insight I need in order to satisfy my hunger issues!
