Kevin Scott Allen grew up with mysteries, his uncle being Robert Portner Koehler, a prolific mystery writer in the in the 1930’s-1960’s. Summer nights weren’t spent around the television, but playing whodunnit games with his uncle. Each night they would take turns coming up with a mystery that the other had to solve. But Kevin didn’t just narrate the events of the mysteries he created, he acted out all the characters and crimes in a one-man show, complete with gruesome deaths and heroic last stands. When his uncle couldn’t visit one summer, they continued the game through written correspondance until his uncle’s death in 1989.
As an adult, Kevin found success as an actor, amassing dozens upon dozens of film and television credits. But he never lost his love for mysteries. MURDER CAN BE FATAL is his first book in the Igg Downs Mystery series. The mystery games Kevin and his uncle played are a continued source of inspiration, and every word he writes is in dedication to one of the finest men he has ever known, Robert Portner Koehler.
