K. S. Tyree has led an eclectic life, working as a musician, a librarian, a NASA space roboticist, a cross-stitch designer, and a teacher, among other careers. She has lived in 15 states and 2 countries, mostly as an Air Force brat following her dad's military career around the world, and has visited 5 continents. She has 5 college degrees, from a bachelor's in music up to a Ph.D. in robotics.

She is the wife of a wonderfully supportive husband, and the mother of 3 wonderful children, whom she has homeschooled most of their lives (though they have also attended public and private schools). She is very active as a musician in her church, playing piano, keyboard, cello, handbells, and percussion (though not all at the same time).

She has always loved books, particularly fantasy and science fiction. Whenever she gets bored with her current job, she daydreams story ideas.
