L.D.Markham was born in Duluth, MN, moved to Scottsdale, AZ at a young age, and could be considered a California native, now living in the Sacramento area. She comes from a family of avid readers and loves reading international spy novels, murder mysteries, police procedures, and adventure mysteries. L.D.Markham enjoyed writing essays in school and kept a file of story ideas over the years. Travel is a favorite thing to do, and she and her spouse have traveled Europe, Mexico, and to many states within the U.S.
In 2013 they took a serendipitous trip to Costa Rica. A couple of days walking the beach, listening to waves hit the shore and seeing such an abundance of flora and fauna inspired her. She was smiling constantly and remembered that she liked to write.
L.D.Markham started Murder in Costa Rica the minute she returned. As she was writing the story, she was also following news out of Costa Rica and learned about the real murder of biologist and conservationist Jairo Mora Sandoval. It seemed karma was telling her to finish her story. Viva Jairo Mora Sandoval.
A member of Sister’s in Crime, and the local chapter, Capitol Crime, Ms. Markham has submitted to mystery magazines and has started work on a series set in Scottsdale.
She is employed with the State of California, Department of Justice, Attorney General’s office where she teaches desktop, professional development, business writing, and proofreading classes.
