My writing influences are David Sedaris and David McCullough, which means that a historical, comedy is somewhere in my future.
If I'm honest, I was probably more attracted to the allure of fame and fortune as a kid (like many of us), but mine persisted even through college. Comedy was the art form that I used to propel that need for attention. Later in life, by addressing inner-child issues, the heat of maturity boiled out that need, leaving just a simmering comedic sauce. Drawn to the various flavors comedy can provide, I continuously wrestle with which type of chef to be: a writer or comedian? But, truth be told, I probably enjoy staying at home too much to seriously push through with comedy. I respect and admire those comedians who live in that world, but Mark Twain's at-home lifestyle in his writing hay-day appeals so much more to me for the moment.
