Margaret R. Sáraco is a writer, retired educator and an activist. The first woman to attend college in her family, she earned degrees in theater, women’s studies and mathematics. Margaret taught middle school math and writing in Montclair, NJ, for many years, where she lives and raised two children with her partner. Prior to writing short stories and poetry, she wrote about music and feminism. Her stories and poems have appeared in numerous publications and journals. She has also written two plays and is working on her novel. She was a semi-finalist in the the Laura Boss Narrative Poetry Contest and won an Honorable Mention for her poem, "The Unlocked Door" in the Allen Ginsberg Contest.
