Marie Bacigalupo writes in a variety of genres, including women’s fiction, horror, fantasy, and mainstream. In love with Words, she earned a Ph.D. in English Literature, and became an English teacher and Director of Humanities in the New York City public school system.
Marie studied creative writing at NYU, the New School, the Writers Studio, and the Center for Fiction under Gordon Lish She has participated in summer writing festivals at the University of Iowa and in workshops led by Hannah Tinti of One Story and Tom Jenks of Narrative Magazine. She won First Prize among 7000 entries in the Writer’s Digest 13th Annual Short Short Story Competition for a story called “Excavation.” Her work has appeared in a variety of publications, including The Brooklyn Rail, the Journal of Microliterature, The Examined Life Journal, and Perspective Literary Magazine.
When Marie looks into the future, she foresees a continuing quest for an ever more intimate union with Words.
