To Engage, Educate, and Entertain is the passion of Dr. Marlene Smith, pen name Dr. Marlene MD. She shares her written and spoken words as an author, poet, professor, professional speaker, and storyteller. Her personal vignettes are positively funny and educational. She has a MD degree and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, retiring from family medicine in 2015. She is a Distinguished Toastmaster and teaches Nutrition at the graduate school level. In November 2020, The Delray Beach Library and Writer’s Studio, Delray Beach, Florida sponsored a Pen to Pandemic Short Story Contest. As I assisted in homeschooling my 5-year-old granddaughter, my storytelling grew and became more creative. My short story, The Day the Unicorns Came to Delray Beach, came in as first runner-up in this contest with over 30 entries. Encouraged by the staff at the library, I adapted my short story to this children’s book, Happy Ever After A Pandemic Tale.
