Mary B. Mackley has worked as a nurse for 30 years. Yet, her interest in writing was ignited in grade school. She entered and won an award for an Irish History Essay Contest. Though her studies were mostly focused on the Sciences, she thoroughly enjoyed English, Literature and History classes. She took AP History classes through St. John's University in NY. She worked as in interpreter at the Carl Sandburg NHS while completing her B.S in Biology and then a B.S. in Nursing. Nursing has offered opportunies to teach as well as write, but in a medical sense. Ever grateful to have been surrounded by books, stories, poetry and the world of writing at the Sandburg NHS, her passion for history and writing continue to this day. Her current book hopes to make a positive contribution to Civics Education ~ and offer a resource for children and adults, students and teachers to review and/or learn the very basic facts of our founding and governing principles. Some factual trivia and historic sketches along with information about Historic places and parks to visit just add a little something special to the book. Knowledge is power ~ and may we all be fully informed about this basic information and be empowerd.
