Meg Westley had lived abroad for three years and developed a lifelong interest in travel by the time she reached adulthood. Born in Montreal, she endured an intensive French immersion experience for a year in Paris at age eight. She later attended Atlantic College, an international school in South Wales (set in a 12th century castle overlooking the Bristol Channel), for her final two years of high school.
After a brief career as a stage manager, she obtained a PhD in Drama from the University of Toronto. She moved to Stratford, Ontario to work at the Stratford Festival, met her husband, settled and raised two sons with him. For most of her career, she taught Drama and Communications at post-secondary institutions, but she also worked as a coach, facilitator, writer and editor. Passionate about education and human rights, Meg held the elected position of public school board trustee for ten years and was president of Dying With Dignity Canada for three. She has written in a variety of genres: fantasy novels, plays for children, horror and speculative fiction stories, academic articles, opinion pieces and a memoir.
Her novel Goddess Fire (a fantasy thriller) was released in November 2009. Milk with Wine, the story of her year in Paris, 1963-4, is her second published book. Now retired, Meg still lives in Stratford. She enjoys hiking, travelling, writing and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
