Melanie Holmes is mother of 3: two grown sons and a teenage daughter. Discouraged by those who view females through the motherhood lens, and concerned for her daughter when she read an interview with an infertile woman who felt life wasn't worth living, Melanie embarked on a quest to uncover the level of assumptions about women's lives. Melanie interviewed/polled 200 women across the U.S. (and some international women), and discovered a high level of assumptions that reveal how women who don't want or don't achieve motherhood are viewed as "less than" their peers or dysfunctional by society. Melanie's passion is diversity of thought and support for women's inner selves/future selves, whatever path they follow.
Holmes has been writing about women's issues for over a decade. She has freelanced for various cultural news sites, and has guest blogged with the Boston Women's Health Initiative/Our Bodies Ourselves Blog, Psychology Today, and numerous others. 25 years in the business world included positions where strategic communications were a part of her skill set. This contributed to a book that found a top-notch Editor, and not just one, but two top-notch agents, and a Global Media Award.
