Michael Allen has been writing since he was six years old. His first poem was called "Slick Move" and it was about people slipping on banana peels and oil spills. What can I say? He was six.
Throughout high school, he kept up his love for writing as it grew into short stories. He would often write between playing baseball and football, two sports he loved because they gave him something to hold onto while he moved around and went to four different high schools before finally graduating from James Monroe in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Michael Allen continued to write as he entered the Marine Corps and then later attended college where he earned a B.S. in English. I'm sure you're starting to see a pattern by now. Yes, he loves to write!
At this point, he has written the novels A River in the Ocean and The Deeper Dark as well as the children's book When You Miss Me. Also a screenwriter, he plans to convert The Deeper Dark into a screenplay. So, you just might see it on the big screen one day.
