I am a retired officer from the U.S. Army veterinary Corps. When I was not treating animals or doing research, I indulged in my life-long passion for writing. My life has been one of constant change due to growing up in a military family and having a military career of my own. On the positive side, this kaleidoscope lifestyle has given me a wealth of real-life experiences to tap into when I feel compelled to write (which is often). Recently, I have released two self-published books, Kisatchie Voices and Journey to Understanding. The former is a novel set in Central Louisiana involving a teenaged girl living in a sawmill ghost town, also written under my pen name, J.C. Oliver. In contrast, the latter is non-fiction, written under my true name, and discusses steps along the way of my Christian journey as a Commissioned Pastor in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Both books were made available around Christmas of ’23, have sold a combined total of fifty copies, and have both received positive comments. Jane, my wife of 52 years, supports my passion for writing and is my chief critic. We are kept busy with our two grown sons, their wives, and six grandchildren. My family roots are in Louisiana, and Jane and I live in Northern Virginia.
