Monica Bauer has a variety of college degrees, including a Ph.D, a Master's in Divinity from Yale, and an MA in Creative Writing from Boston University. She taught English at Quinnipiac University as a Writing Fellow from 2008-2015. Her first short story as an undergrad was awarded the Prairie Schooner Fiction Prize. She's been a working playwright since 2002, with work published by Brooklyn, Heuer, and Original Works. Her plays have been performed Off-Broadway, regionally, and abroad at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She began seriously writing novels when the world collapsed in March of 2020.
