The author is a Command USAF Pilot with over 5600 flying hours, of which 376 are combat hours. He has commanded three Strategic Air Command Wings (2nd Bomb Wing; 410th Bomb Wing) and was the last commander of the 307th Strategic Wing, U-Tapao, Thailand. He served as the 15th Air Force Director of Operations as well as in other headquarter staff positions. He has flown a variety of aircraft to include the T-39, F-102, F-106, U-2, B-47, B-52 and the supersonic B-58. He was a distinguished graduate of the Instrument Pilot Instructor School (IPIS), has flown over twice the speed of sound and has instructed in all the bomber class aircraft. As a squadron commander he supervised over fifty crews and flew combat missions from the island of Guam to Vietnam. He is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College and the Air War College as well as The Industrial College of the Armed Forces, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University of Los Angeles and a Masters Degree from the University of Southern California in International Relations. He is married to Rosemary Fitzgerald, and has five children, Martin, Matthew, Monique, Marc and Mary. He presently teaches World Literature at the high school level and serves as the Athletic Director of Woodbridge High School.
