A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR

The lockdown had only just started and like many millions of others, like you, I was stuck inside. I had a story in my mind that had been forming, so I resolved to sit down and began to write.
I have never written a novel before. My highest formal qualifications in English and Literature were GCE O-Levels, taken thirty years ago and I have never studied art. But I read a lot and I like to draw.
Five weeks later, I had written three hundred pages, probably two-thirds of the story before editing. I felt I needed a break from writing, but I had an overwhelming compulsion that there was more story to tell. So, I started to draw.
Before long, I found myself with a plethora of illustrations, some hand-drawn with pencil and pastels, others scribbled on an iPad or on my PC with a mouse. Many of them will never see the light of day, but I have humbly shared the pictures that I feel add something to the story.
Many writers have influenced me, but two have left an indelible mark and deserve special mention. To Stephen King, and Phillip K. Dick - thank you for taking me to other worlds and opening my mind.
I hope you enjoy it. If you like it, I think I might have more stories to tell.
