New York City composer, bandleader & alto saxophonist  patrick brennan has pursued a contrarian and independent musical path toward evolving a distinct musical language in relation with the Blues Continuum. He formed his rhythm-section-centric ensemble s0nic 0penings in 1979, which is an ongoing project that interfaces flexibly jointed compositional matrices with polyrhythm & collective improvisation. He has performed and recorded internationally with this and other initiatives, ranging from solo, to large formats, to collaborations with the Gnawa as well as with electro-acoustic improvisers. His published essays and reviews have engaged cinema, music, poetry and visual art.
