Paul Counelis is an author and freelance writer from Michigan. among his several dozen books are the non-fiction "Marshall's Gully", the Young Adult book "Something We Could Never Be", the middle grade series' "Kendall Kingsley" and "Spook Sleuths", two essay books about horror films ("21 Underrated Horror Films" and "The Greatest Horror Movie Ever Made") and a popular look at horror hosts in the 21st century, "11:59 and Counting". He has also written a few poem books and horror fiction short story collections.
He writes for many publications and sites about a variety of topics, including Rue Morgue magazine, Flint Comix and Entertainment, and also writes for Michigan's Halloween paper "Fear Finder". He is a movie reviewer for multiple websites, and has been published in publications as varied as ShriekFreak Quarterly, Fright Times, Courageous Woman and The Uncommon Sense. Paul is also a singer/songwriter in the Michigan bands Lords of October and Free Will. He and wife Crystal run a free haunt, "Scarriage Town", from their house every Halloween with their friends, relatives, and their nine kids.
A member of the Flint Horror Collective, Paul can be heard every two weeks on the podcast The Ghoul Cast and helps to organize horror events and conventions in Michigan.
Paul is the creator and editor-in-chief of the print magazine Halloween Machine, which he has been publishing with Hallow Harvest Books since 2012.
