Paul J. Harrington is the author of The Commonsense Rules: Why America Needs a New Constitution, an informative, provocative, and inspirational new book that exposes the truth about the impending economic and fiscal disaster facing the United States. In the book, Mr. Harrington provides detailed analysis based on exhaustive research, commonsense solutions, and a practical roadmap to a better America for all. He relies on his legal, business, and financial background, combined with his extensive knowledge of economic and political theory, to craft a comprehensive plan for the future, incorporated into a proposed new constitution.
Mr. Harrington has been an industry leader in real estate law, home mortgage financing, and other legal and business issues. He is an experienced media spokesperson, public speaker, and educational presenter. Mr. Harrington was the president of The DeWolfe Companies, Inc., where he helped lead one of the most successful public companies in New England through more than a decade of rapid expansion. He was the chairman of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association (MMBA), and has been the recipient of numerous awards and media recognition for his contributions to the home purchase and financing industry. He has taught many educational seminars as a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA), the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB), and the MMBA. Mr. Harrington was a national leader in the application of agency law to buyer agency disclosure and practice in real estate brokerage.
As a private attorney, Paul Harrington acquired legal experience in the areas of real estate, banking, criminal law, contracts, estates, and other aspects of the law, including appointment as a public defender in criminal court cases. He founded his own law firm, and expanded Harrington Law Offices, P.C. from a single office in Braintree, MA to a regional firm with five offices in Eastern Massachusetts. Mr. Harrington also started Yankee Title Company, a title abstracting business that operated throughout Massachusetts.
Mr. Harrington graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in 1978, and has been a member of the bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Federal District Court of Boston, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He graduated magna cum laude from Boston College in 1975, with an A.B. in Political Science. He also attended and studied engineering at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and Tufts University in Medford, MA. Mr. Harrington graduated with distinction from B.C. High School in Boston, MA.
Paul Harrington was born and raised in the Dorchester section of Boston. He resided in Duxbury, MA with his wife and three children for 26 years, and currently lives on the waterfront in Boston. Mr. Harrington has been an active community participant, including as a church lector, candidate for public office, and youth sports coach and organizer. When he is not reading and writing, he has enjoyed sailing, golf, skiing, stock trading, and construction projects.
