The past four decades, Paula Baack coached children through adult singers in addition to directing youth, collegiate and adult choral ensembles in three states, 15 public schools, two colleges/universities, 23 classrooms, 17 grade levels and educated over 6000 students. The past four decades, Paula Baack coached children through adult singers in addition to directing youth, collegiate and adult choral ensembles in three states, 15 public schools, two colleges/universities, 23 classrooms, 17 grade levels and educated over 6000 students. Her work in music education received local, state and national acclaim. She retired from public education in 2017. Currently Ms. Baack spends her time as an independent educational consultant working with administrators and staff in Colorado. When not advocating for teachers, Ms. Baack directs the Peak Performance Voice Studio, coaching singers of all ages and genres.

Guest columnist for the Colorado Springs Gazette and Lincoln (Nebraska) Journal Star (2018); Colorado Springs Chorale Award for Excellence in Choral Education (2017); recognized as an outstanding teacher by the Colorado Springs Down Syndrome Association (2015); Outstanding Colorado Teacher award from the Boettcher Foundation (2014); received an invitation to present my paper “Assessing the Singer, Making the Choir Accountable” to the Third International Symposium on Assessment in Music Education, held in Bremen, Germany (2010); recognized as an outstanding teacher by the Air Academy High School (AAHS) Special Education Department (2009); submitted and accepted as a presenter (topic: Vocal Jazz Conservatory) at the 49th National Conference of College Music Society in San Antonio,TX (2006); nominated by two students for Scottsdale Community College Faculty Recognition on behalf of the Psi Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (2006); Who’s Who in America (2003 and 2005); Who’s Who of American Teachers (2000 and 2004); Master Teacher for Sedona Jazz on the Rocks (2006-2007); 1997 University of Nebraska Parents’ Association Teaching Award; 1994 Nebraska “Thank You Teacher” Award
Talented former students include James Valentine, a guitarist and singer for Maroon 5, Nate Zuercher, banjo and singer for Judah & the Lion, Scottie Johnson, guitarist and singer for the Gin Blossoms and Scott Maclntyre, a Top 10 finalist in Season 8 of American Idol.
