Richard Duggin’s work includes the novels, The Music Box Treaty, Wayne State College Press 2011; Woman Refusing To Leave, Austin Macauley, 2019; The Snipe Hunters, (tbp 2020); and the short story collection, Why Won’t You Talk To Me: Selected Stories, Outskirts Press, 2011. His short fiction has appeared in periodicals including Beloit Fiction Journal, Laurel Review, The Sun, Playboy, Crosscurrents, Kansas Quarterly, and elsewhere. His work has been cited by Best American Short Stories, Pushcart Prize Anthology, and Playboy Magazine Best Fiction.
In 1974 he founded the University of Nebraska Omaha Writer’s Workshop, a BFA degree program in creative writing within the University’s College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media. In 2005 he founded and was director until 2017 of the University of Nebraska Omaha MFA in Writing program, a low-residency graduate program in creative writing.
