"You must believe in yourself before others will believe in you."
Robert Hill was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. He broke his neck at the age of twenty-five in an accident and is a quadriplegic. Rather than bemoan his circumstances, he enjoys what he has and what he can do.
Sometimes that means you will find him in a Jeep with his kids playing in the mud and dirt. Since the accident, Robert has been skiing, scuba diving, coached Little League and in 2001, he placed first in the wheelchair division of the New York Marathon.
He lives in sunny southern California with his wife and two very energetic boys.
As a father, he watched his boys and their friends play video games on their phones, tablets, computers, and game consoles. They played for hours, oblivious to the beautiful weather, the time or their homework.
He wondered what life might be like if all the gadgets stopped working. As he researched recent natural disasters, some patterns emerged, and an idea blossomed. Memories of time with the Boy Scouts and growing up in a small town brought the story into focus.
The result is his debut novel, Alone Together.
