Roberto C. Rivera was born and raised in the humble surroundings of Managua, Nicaragua. Despite significant hardships, Roberto's family never lacked a deep passion for learning, thanks to his mother, who instilled in him the value of education from an early age. Determined to break free from the chains of poverty, Roberto pursued his academic dreams with unwavering dedication. Against all odds, he completed his university education, earning a degree in Economic Statistics from UPOLI in Managua.
Roberto's early adult years were marked by an urgent desire to give back to his community, leading him to teach neighborhood children and share his knowledge to help them overcome challenges similar to those he faced growing up. Roberto's path took a pivotal turn when his wife, Heather, an American citizen, moved to Nicaragua. Together, they founded a reading school in Jinotega, Nicaragua, and over time, their efforts flourished, transforming the lives of countless children through the power of literacy.
Their success eventually led them to Somoto, Nicaragua, where their reading school continues to thrive. Through their teaching experiences, Roberto and Heather developed the NEI Sistema de Lectura, a comprehensive reading system that has profoundly impacted the communities they serve. Roberto's story is a testament to the transformative power of education and the enduring spirit of resilience.
