Judy Garland sang that she was "born in a trunk." Well, I wasn't! I was born in a book!
I don't remember a time when books weren't an important and integral part of what I ate, drank, slept and breathed.
In between turning pages, I discovered that I loved working with kids, became a teacher, the Head of the Lower School at a private school, got married, had two sons, and now have two granddaughters. I was also an audio book voice and performed THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS which won the Benjamin Franklin award.

I also discovered that I like writing my own stories. Even as a kid, I made up stories for friends and younger children. When I worked in an inner city school in Manhattan, my teaching was buoyed by my ability to weave stories into everything. I reckon that I've written and told stories since I could hold a crayon; this is not an exaggeration. Although I've been guilty of that!
Now that I'm retired, I'm a full-time writer and the founder of the Walnut Creek Writers Guild. We've published our first collection of original short stories called THE VIEW FROM HERE. I hope some of you will be motivated to read it. It's a book about trips and points of view.
The three books that have most affected my life and my own point of view are DANDELION WINE by Ray Bradbury (heck, I AM Douglas Spaulding) THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING by T.H. White (I've tried to help others pull the sword from the stone.) and ALICE IN WONDERLAND & THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS by Lewis Carroll.
