Sean Akerman is a writer of fiction, poetry, and non-fiction. Born in the lakes region of central Maine, he earned a BA from Wheaton College and a PhD in social / personality psychology from the Graduate Center, City University of New York. He held faculty appointments at Hunter College, Sarah Lawrence College, and Bennington College, before leaving academia to write full-time. His poetry has appeared in locations such as Radius, 3Elements Literary Review, Main Street Rag, artist catalogues, and elsewhere. His first novel, Outposts, was recently published through Threekookaburras Press, and his study of exile, Words & Wounds, is under contract through Oxford University Press. Currently, he is seeking representation for a novel manuscript about ten years in the life of a con-man. He lives in the North Woods near Lake Superior's south shore.
