Shamil Ismail is an investment analyst and qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst. He founded Primaresearch in South Africa in 2015, a specialist research firm focusing on consumer companies. Before founding Primaresearch, Shamil was the Head of Research at BNP Paribas Securities South Africa. He is a highly-rated research analyst and was rated First in Innovative Research in the Financial Mail Analyst of the Year rankings. He was also awarded the Absip Research Analyst of the Year. Over the past thirty years, he has been involved in various aspects of consumer markets, first working at large retailers and later as an analyst researching the investment markets. The global trends in demographics and how this will impact consumer markets are of particular interest to him, culminating in the book “The Age of Decay”.
