Starr T. Balmer lives in Carson, California and is the owner of two small businesses — Bird’s Love, an independent publishing company, and Premier Editing, a copy editing and proofreading service — in Southern California. Her love for writing started when she was in the fourth grade. In fact, her teacher noticed her writing abilities and placed her stories in the reading area of the classroom so other students could read them. Particularly, her interest in children’s stories developed when she worked as an assistant editor for an educational publisher and reviewed a variety of children’s picture books. As her interest grew, she decided to hone her writing skills and earned a certificate in Writing for Children from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Ultimately, her interest turned into a love for writing children’s stories and a desire to self-publish her first children's picture book, Scary, Scary Sasha.
