Stephanie Claytor is an award-winning multimedia news reporter who is passionate about travel.
While attending Syracuse University’s S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, she pursued her passion for storytelling, Spanish, and traveling by studying Broadcast Journalism, International Relations with a geographic concentration on Latin America, and Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture.
While attending college, she studied abroad in the Dominican Republic, and upon graduation, received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Colombia.
While in Colombia, Stephanie taught English to college students.
When she returned to the United States after her assistantship ended 10 months later, Stephanie chose to pursue her other dream of becoming a television reporter and multimedia journalist. She went on to cover stories in states across the South and Midwest.
She thrived in her broadcasting career, but Stephanie still felt a desire to sit down and write her first book about her time living abroad and everything she experienced that shaped much of the rest of her life. She began to seriously work on finishing the project in 2018. She decided to name the book, “Blacktrekking: My Journey Living in Latin America.”
While writing and editing the book, she created the travel and lifestyle blog, www.blacktrekking.com, to capture all of her travels since living abroad. So far, she’s visited fourteen countries, including Japan, Ghana, and France, and three territories including Bora Bora, Puerto Rico, and Turks and Caicos.
