I was born near Toronto, Canada, and studied history, political philosophy, and literature at the University of Toronto. I earned my Ph.D. in U.S. History at The University of Alabama. I am the author of As Long as They Don’t Move Next Door, (Lanham, MD: Rowman and Littlefield, 2000), as well as articles and reviews. I have taught on all levels, and now enjoy teaching history in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program in Statesville, North Carolina, where I live with my wife, teenage son, and chocolate lab.
My pastimes include Sudoku puzzles, and playing golf and street hockey. Recently, I was bitten again by the acting bug; I sing and act in local theater and plan to do more in the future.
