A knowledgeable sports fan and history buff Steven Falco describes himself as an author who “prefers a humorous approach to writing believing that reading is 90% mental and the other half should be fun.”

He grew up in the little New Jersey town of Roselle where he played baseball and honed his writing skills. A graduate of Montclair State University Mr. Falco majored in English and minored in History where he studied the writings of Steinbeck, Dylan and Berra, and the lives of MLK and RFK. Spending most of his adult life working in the field of social services, he still found time to play ball while sharpening his writing skills publishing newsletters and scratching out short stories.

In his first book, “Grandpa Gordy’s Greatest World Series Games”, which he dedicated to his twin daughters when they were middle graders, Mr. Falco presents the national pastime’s greatest games in a unique, humorous and lovable way.

Mr. Falco’s second book, “Mickey Mantle’s Last Home Run”, was described by Clarion Reviews as a “tribute to childhood—and the draw of baseball—in the late 1960’s”. It is more than a book about baseball, but about the friendship between a white kid and an African American kid trying to navigate the tumultuous late 60’s. The book’s title echoes the loss of innocence in much the same way as does Paul Simon’s famous lyric “Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.”

Mr. Falco currently lives in Fanwood where he plants trees, plays softball and continues to write.
