About my Writing
Before Writing. I grew up believing I could fly. My mother once saved me from launching off the roof of our house with only newspaper wings held together with coat hangers and tape.
I grew up on stage and learned to sing, dance, and act. The singing and dancing I loved. The acting I hated because of having to remember lines. Around the time, I took up the pen. At first, writing songs and poetry and, later, longer work, all of which seemed to focus on the grittier side of life.
Which leads us to…
During Writing. I began writing my first novel in 1997. I had no business writing a novel without proper training and took eight years to complete. That first novel is called OF THE LAW, a noir mystery about a law man who’s sick to death of perps, bureaucracy, and well, life in general. Then, I wrote three books for The Bobby’s Diner series (women’s fiction/amateur sleuth), a stand-alone called DROWNING (aka The Last Maharajan – upmarket women’s fiction), TROUBLED IN PARADISE (Young adult/romantic fantasy/superhero), WAY OF THE WILD WOOD (YA inspirational fantasy), multi-award-winner THE DEER EFFECT (Inspirational fantasy), and a number of nonfiction and short stories, all of which you can find here and on Amazon.
Me, as a Deer Wrangler. The island where my husband and I live have an abundance of black-tailed deer. And, I love all of the wildlife here. We have a small herd of about thirty or so black-tailed deer. They come morning, noon, and night begging for corn, barley, and oats. Some have names, like Einstein, Bee-Bop and Kitty. Some are yearlings and have just “shown up.” And, some, like Kitty, have been coming for twelve years and longer. Some let me to pet them, like Einstein.
Nature and animals always play a role in my novels. In fact, in each my stories I cast a cameo appearance for a deer. I usually cast a cat or dog in a supporting role. To learn more about my books, go to my books page here.
