Taylor Marsh is a political writer and cultural voyeur who lives in the Beltway area of Washington D.C. She is a former Broadway performer and beauty queen who was the Relationship Consultant for LA WEEKLY, then the nation’s top alternative newsweekly. Author of The Hillary Effect and The Sexual Education of a Beauty Queen, Taylor turns to fiction for the first time with Below the Beltway.
Says Marsh, “For over 10 years I worked in the dating, sex and relationship fields, so combining everything I learned into my first fictional adventure romance was a blast and a true labor of love. After all the years I spent advising people on how to date, marry and have great sex, it was exciting to tell a very modern story of a woman in her late 30s working to get the wrong guy out of her life, just as Mr. Right comes along.”
She adds, “It’s my first fiction, so it became an adventure for me, introducing a liberated female character who’s working out how to fit a man into her successful life. Today, that’s reality for a lot of women in their thirties.”
Taylor was profiled in The Washington Post and The New Republic for her coverage of Hillary Clinton during the 2008 Democratic primary season. She has been a contributor to The Huffington Post since 2006, and has written for Washington, D.C.’s The Hill, as well as for U.S. News & World Report and for Zócalo Public Square in Los Angeles. Taylor has also been interviewed by Al Jazeera Media Network, The New York Times, BBC, CNN, MSNBC, and C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, among other outlets.
