The story I have created and authored is the first ever Christmas story written where an entire family of shepherds vist the nativity; Christmas today is truly A Family Affair centered around the children. This is why I let the children in the cast of story characters have big parts in the telling of the story. There is enough characters in the story including the parents, so that everyone who reads the story will find a character to inentify with and become part of the nativity adventure.
My story is conveyed by an angel mother named Cerina about the time her two angel children were sent from their Heavenly home on an Earthly mission to invite and guide a shepherd family of seven to the nativity on what was to be the very first Christmas. As Cerina tells her never before told story the characters through interaction and conversation process and interpt in real time the unfolding events of their journey into the very first Christmas.
The book is 110 pages and fully illustrated. My book is actually two books in one. I divided the story into two chapters, The Very First Christmas Eve and The Very First Christmas Day. This was purposed to satisify two stiuations. First to shorten read read so that the very young child would not loose intrest and secondly because I did not know how to tell my Christmas story about the first Christmas Eve without telling about the first Christmas Day.
I laced the original Christmas nativity story with a touch of modern day celebration style plus a hint of modern day life for a quick connect. With the 24 characters 11 of which are children ranging in age from tots to teens the audience and even the parents will easily find a character within the story and will join in on this never ending seasonal adventure.
When the manuscript was completed in late 2015 after a long search, I engaged an awsome illustrator by the name of Kathryn Harper who lives in New Zealand. Over a five month period we worked everyday connunicating via the phone and the internet to create 100 illustrations of which I feel are of Disney quality.
This experience was like making a story board for a movie as we laid out the story text and illustrations to create the books galley.
The underline purpose or mission of the book is three fold. It introduces the seven virtues of Kindness, Sharing, Friendship, Truth and Integrity, Joy and Laughfter, Forgivness and Love. These are reflected in the Seven Coins and are the gifts that will bring Peace and Goodwill to all. The story underscores the importance of the family unit. The Very First Christmas Stocking belonging to the baby Jesus makes Him a more prominant figure in the celebration of Christmas.
I have always hoped that I would leave something behind that would last and benefit many. I hope this story and book is that something. . . . . . . . .
